NGC 2775 Galaxy in Cancer

NGC2775 is an unbarred 11.3mag bright spiral galaxy (type SA(r)ab) locatetd in the constellation of Cancer. With an apparent size of 4′.3 × 3′.3 it shows a prominent ring structure.Like our own LocalGroup it is a member of the SuperCluster in Virgo.

Its real distance amounts to about 55mio light years.The only ever observed supernova in NGC2775 occured in 1993 (type Ia).

This galaxy was first seen by William Herschel in 1783.
