NGC7314 seems to have detached spiral arm segments therefore it was listed in H.Arp´s "Atlas of peculiar galaxies" as Arp 14.

Sized 4,6′ × 2′ it appears  as a 11mag bright patch in mid-sized telescopes in the constellation of Piscis austrinus.Classified as an active Seyfert-galaxy typed SAB(rs)bc,its real distance is about 66mio.light-years.

It was first seen by John Frederick William Herschel in 1834.
